The fall of the rich

Every weekday morning I wake up to the television news show "Good Morning America," and each day I hear more bad news about the economy. What strikes me most about these stories is that so much of the fault lies with the executives of these companies, namely banks and insurance giants (hello AIG, I OWN you, you rat bastards - if I have to pay back every dime of my $30,000 student loan and you get interest free $150 billion dollars, that's $15 BILLION tax payer bailout money, no strings attached, than I, a student loan and tax paying citizen, OWN you!).

Ok, back from my tirade on AIG (I OWN you, you rat bastards), I think much of the reason these senior management characters have screwed up so royally is that they have lost touch. To them one million dollars ($1,000,000) is not a lot of money. I saw that happen at non-descript airlines, where I would do reconcilations on my tiny department's budget and when I couldn't find, say $20, I would try to track it down, only to have the larger budget manager say to me, "don't worry about it, they don't care." And by they, she meant, senior management.

I think the only time these top guys care about the money is when it means they won't get theirs, than they have no problem taking from the little guy.

God, how much do I hate these people! How do you sleep at night?!

Those greedy devils only get greedier. They're probably working on new workarounds even now to get around paying any of their fair share of taxes even as they use ours to continue the lifestyles they feel they deserve.

I have a loan out with AGF which is owned by AIG.

Yesterday they called me and offered to refinance my loan. I said, "Since I am a major stock holder in your company, how about if we just call it even"? The woman who called laughed and said, "Where have I heard that before".

Hey Virginiagal,
Ok..the "rat bastards" thing had me cracking up..thanks for the laugh. I quit smoking 5 days ago and laughs are few and far between right now!
I'm just sick of hearing about bailing out all of these companies, and how the CEOs are getting richer by the day. And the government just CAN'T limit their pay because then they can't hire good workers...They remind me of a bunch of whiney 2 year olds who stamp their feet and hold their breath until they get what they want. I invite them all to come and walk a mile in my shoes, and then think about all the things they CAN'T do without!
I don't even want to get started on my student loans.. :(

But, they have to pay or they can't hire the good management like they have now (the ones that drove them where they are).
And they can sleep because they did get theirs.

Wait a minute - I can't stop laughing at the "rat bastards" thing.

Okay - it's not that I hate rich people, but I do hate the sytem that has been set up to allowe them to become rich on the backs of others. I don't believe there is an ethical way to become very wealthy.

Brenda - yes they probably on figuring a new way to keep their lifestyle and not paying taxes.

Pax - at least there can be some laughter in all of this : )

Molly - hee hee.

Trisha - that is so true, have they even ever walked in our shoes? That is what I can't understand, don't they have any empathy?? I am glad I made you laugh : )

JoeinVegas - I guess I could sleep well too if I sold my soul to the devil and was comfortable with it.

Mommantor - Amen sister!

Citizen - oh yes sister, we must tear down the system that props up these rich guys on our back. Glad you liked the rat bastard comment!

I agree so very much with Citizen of the World. I am not a socialist and I believe in free enterprise within ethical boundaries. I just think most people who develop extreme wealth get there through questionable means and at the expense of others.
