Indy Report

Indianapolis, Indiana - very nice people but I don't think I could live here - too NASCAR country, also not big or diverse enough; currently a very sad feeling pervades, probably because this part of America has been badly affected by all the economic woes.

Heard on The Daily Show last night -

"In California you are an unfit parent if you are gay but if you are single, unwed, unemployed, living with your parents and have an Anglina Jolie fetish, than you can have as many kids as you want,"

Made me stand up and say Amen! Stop the hypocrisy!

I heard that comment on The Daily Show. Amen from me, too.

I heard it, too. The Daily Show has a very consistent pro-gay rights stance. Just another thing to love about Jon Stewart.

I will second that "Amen".
They recently passed an amendment here in Arkansas that unmarried couples who live together cannot foster or adopt. Which is absolutely ridiculous. The first problem I had is the way it was worded on the ballot. I was not really sure if I were voting FOR the ban or FOR unmarried couples to have that right. I had to really study it before voting. Secondly, 50% of marriages end in divorce. HOW CAN YOU MAKE THE ASSUMPTION THAT ONLY MARRIED, HETEROSEXUAL COUPLES CAN PROVIDE LOVING, STABLE HOMES????
I was doubly ashamed during the election. Arkansas voted McCain and passed this ridiculous law.

i haven't heard the quote, til now, but that is the frame of mind for many folks.
i think until somebody sees a gay couple raising kids in a loving healthy way-- it will stay that way.
my husband and i have seen and known gay couples on the outs just because they have kids... "ohhhh, that can't be good." they say. (or worse).
but hey-- live and learn i reckon.

people should base their opinion on what they know, not what they think or what other people tell them.

many kids don't have any parents--or only one, and any child in a loving home is blessed... gay parents or not.

ok i'll get off my soapbox now-- i'm too tired for this topic. :))

happy thursday.

very good.
of course, i'm of the opinion that the bad parent in that case was the young woman's mother. how does an unemployed woman pay for that care? here's an idea, lady: if you don't want your daughter spending tons of money making babies and living with you, don't fund it and kick your daughter out of the house!

Merci - amen sister!

Citizen - I love Jon, he is so on top of it!

Trisha - that is right, what is wrong with people?? Don't worry we know everyone in AK is not crazy.

Soul - That is exactly my opinion, some kids don't even have any parent, or a loving one, so why deny children a loving parent?

Brenda - thanks, she is a fruitcake for sure!

Molly - that is so true, why are they enabling her?
