Homecoming

Spent the whole weekend sick as a dog, nothing staying in my stomach. Joy. My mom wants me to go to the doctor, I say, why bother? Since my nice old guy doctor retired and they brought in this mean old girl, I don't even care to go. I had bronchitis back in November and she accused me of being a hypochondric. Nice, I go to the doctor once in 12 months and I get told, don't come back till you're dying. So I'm not caring this time around, I can self-medicate till I find a combination that works, no?

Went to visit my alma mater, Mary Baldwin College this weekend (note when you are constantly throwing up, not a good idea to drive two hours away from home). It was lovely though, perfectly green lawns, glistening Mary Baldwin white buildings, everything clean and neat. I had a great four years there and only pleasant memories flooded me as I walked back on campus.

Because I was so sick, didn't get to see the Da Vinci Code, if you did see it - please let me know what you thought.

Have a good week!

My best physician is one of my specialists. He's old school. I trust him and I can talk to him. I don't know what I'll do when he retires.

Hope you feel better!

Joe - My mother is saying the exact same thing, I'm just giving up on doctors all together.

Maidink - My sister is so desperate to see that movie and no one will go with her, that she is offering to pay for my ticket as well, hee hee.

Merci - it sucks when a good doctor you trust retires, hopefully you're guy will hire a nice replacement, unlike the girl my doctor got to replace him. Ugh, I don't like her.

Tony - thanks, I'm already on the road to recovery and now my car is broken. When it rains, it pours no?

Fenigrin and sprite or 7-ups. If that doesn't work better see the doc. You may have a virus that'll clear up in a couple of days,, don't let it dehydrate you!!

Hope you feel better soon!

Do hope you feel better!

I know someone who went to see DVC and thought it was horribly done. The book was practically written as a screenplay and yet they couldn't properly bring it to screen. The person who saw it said that it didn't help that they showed the trailer of "World Trade Center" right before the film - and this person saw the film in Manhattan, where people where practically in tears by the time the trailer ended . . .

If you are really interested in a lot of the themes found in the DVC, I really suggest you read some Umberto Eco (especially "In the Name of The Rose" and "Foucault's Pendulum".) He is light years' a better writer than Dan Brown . . .

Brenda - oh thanks, I shall keep those tips for the next time my stomach flares up. I'm all better now : )

Random Kath - Another movie on 9/11? It seems a little soon, no? Thanks for the tips, I shall look into this author, the themes of the Da Vinci Code are fascinating, done right, could be a really good read.

VAGal: Sorry you were sick. Vomitting is not good, though. I agree with Joe and your mom - might be worth finding another doctor. Interestingly enough, I read recently that doctors with good bedside manner don't necessarily make fewer mistakes than those without, but their malpractice suits are WAY fewer than those without. Find another doctor. Be patient. If you're puking your guts out for no reason, you should probably seek medical assistance. Especially if there's a fever involved.

I haven't yet seen Da Vinci Code either. Aside from that, I don't know any movies I'm dying to see. Or rather, that I'm willing to pay $10 to see in a theater!

Molly - oh thanks, I'm better now, must have just been a passing thing, so no doctor needed - yay!

Funny, I'm the same way, not sure there is anything out right now I want to pay $10 for, looking forward to seeing the Al Gore film and Pirates 2.
