CAA Champions and Figure Skating update

VCU Rams win CAA Championship!!!! - cinch berth in NCAA tournament (64 teams).

I'm not a big b-ball fan, but even I got into the spirit, VCU is my current school and its nice for a change to be on the winning side of things. We beat George Mason! The campus was crazy this evening - everyone cheering and honking. Here's hoping the Rams can make it to the sweet 16!

oh also - I'm excited, the world figure skating championships are around the corner, my predictions....its a tough call, in a post-Olympic year generally its anybody's game.

Instead of predicting medals, here's who I think are the contenders:
Pairs - all about China, Shen and Zhao for #1 unless they majorly screw up, Zhang and Zhang, maybe the German's (whose name eludes me). And of course always be on the lookout for Russians.

Men - Brian Joubert of France (its his to lose), Evan Lyasceck, Johnny Weir of USA, Stephen Lambiel of Switzerland.

Dance - Belbin and Agosto of America, LOVE their Amelie program, hopefully it will win over international judges. Otherwise Bulgarians Dankav and Stavinski (sp), Canada's Durbrueil and Lauzon, France's Schonfielder and Delebel, I'm sure some Russian team will pop up as well.

Women -ahh...this is the biggie, its going to be all about who can land the jumps and bring the artistry. Wide open field!!! I'd love for American Alissa Czency to step up so I'm rooting for her, though she chokes a ton, so no money bets. Otherwise its about Kimmie Mesiner (sp) of USA, Mai Asada of Japan and the little girl from Korea whose name I've forgotten. Maybe Canada's Joannie Rochette or Emily Hughs of America if they don't choke.

World's are the second to last week of March - catch coverage on ESPN (where they have regulated it to am hours, i.e. 3am or 5am, lovely).

I love, so does the rest of the family get so much into March maddness that its like the super bowl for us, we pick our favorites, yeall, scream / argue about winners and loosers. The funniest part is we hardly watch all season but get so wrapped into March Maddness.
OO and the skating-I love em all, I just wish the announcers would let us just watch and not tell us every little mistake done! I can see agood performance, and judge myself who should have won!

Since football is all done for the season, there won't be too much of the sports on tv watching around here. I hope your favorite team does well though!

Mommantor - isn't it fun to get into a sport (not taking over your life but getting in to it). oh I hope our team goes at least to the sweet 16 - that would be really cool!!
As for figure skating....I agree about the commenators, though I think ABC has done a good job of toning it down lately and amazingly the more I watch the more I agree with Dick Button (who can be VERY mean). LOL.

Brenda - my sister is the same way (a HUGE NFL Giants fan) - thanks for the well-wishes, I'll keep all posted : )

Brenda! Hi! I'm so sorry I haven't stopped by in a while, I must, I'm dying to find out how Bella is! Yes, (I'm laughing at myself) me and basketball - sooo far apart, hee hee.

Molly - sorry my dear but I don't have an IPOD, when I'm a rich MBA svp of some airline I'll get me an IPOD.

Joe - I don't have tivo but I'm thinking maybe of just adjusting my schedules for those days (since its only like three days) and waking up early to catch the coverage. I am definitely angered that this is the only time ESPN and ABC have regulated figure skating, as if fans are slim (which is not the case, actually the opposite) - its an outrage! They will put stupid sports on primetime but I think they hate figure skating and cover it grudgingly. I wish I had access to Canadian channels there they show it proudly at times normal people can watch it!
