Sorry - Being AWOL

Sorry for the lack of posting and checking everyone's blog, I've been AWOL of late because during this holiday season, employed in two retail jobs means that I am a slave to both stores and working 12 to 15 hour days, every day, meaning whatever free time I have is spent catching up on sleep.

Some thoughts I've been having lately:

  • How wide a discrepancy in the weather of the USA, up North all major snowstorms but down here in Northern Virginia, just some mild rain. I didn't even know for the first two days of the major snowstorms until a friend wrote me, crazy, eh??
  • Hey just because a store carried something last year, doesn't mean they will carry it again next year, so don't tell me, "but you had it last year." If you don't see it on the shelves, we don't got it, capise!
  • why are people extra rude to store clerks during the holiday season? For God's sake Christmas is NOT about materialism!! And I'm more likely to go out of my way and help you when you are not a jerk to me!
  • Two retail jobs during the holiday season means I've had to miss three dinner get togethers, numerous friends phone calls and more than one family outing this Christmas period. Sigh.
  • Why does Hollywood try to make us like Nazi's, even ones who tried to blow up Hitler? This new Tom Cruise film has me intrigued, I want to see it, but don't like the idea of sympathizing with a Nazi, cause no matter what they did, a high ranking Nazi officer bought into the party line and in this case, the Nazi party line was horrific.
  • My little 9-year old cousin in India has finally gotten an internet connection at home, I can't wait to start emailing her!

sounds like you shouldn't go see the film. the main reason i don't want to see it - or at least not spend $12 on it - is because it features Tom Cruise in the dramatic lead. meh. NOT a draw for this chick.

Mollie -me either. He just rubs me the wrong way, I don't like the subject matter either!!
Have been missing ya, but know what it's like. I saw those ice storms at work last weekend-whilst it was 80 degrees outside! Kinda spooky the ole weather right now. Is it because of the moon being so close! Or moon, venus & jupitor in alignment? who knows. I know one thing for sure it sure is cold here in Maryland!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's cold here today, but our kin in Iowa have had HIGH temperatures that are lower than any of the LOW temperatures we've had here in Southern NJ. They had one day last week with a high temp of 0 degrees, and, as of last night, they had about a foot of snow on the ground. Yow! But they will have a classic white Christmas on a classic American farm, so I guess there is something good to find in it all.

I've been fortunate to have pretty good shopping experiences this holiday season. I did some of my shopping online and I did the rest in out-of-the-way places. I just couldn't take the seething masses this year. Sorry that folks have been rude to you. It's not necessary, and it only makes things rougher on everyone.

I certainly am verbose tonight! Hope things get better in the retail world for you.

I hope that you can find a job in your field instead of double shifts in retail. Oh my, does not sound like fun even though it pays the bills.

Hopefully the mad rush will be ending for you soon, and people will get back to their normal (rude?) selves. :-) Seriously. Hang in there. I am curious about the movie, but don't think I am going to see it in the theatre, ESPECIALLY at Christmas. Really bad timing. What WERE they thinking???

I'm not sure these jobs are good for you (aside from paying the rent, of course).

Molly - not going to see it, didn't get really great reviews. Wanna see Doubt though.

Mommantor - yup it has been cold!

Brenda - Merry Christmas to you!

Merci - online is the way to go for sure!

Joe - no fun but does pay the bills.

JellyKean - Nazi's at Christmas, you're right, crazy...sounds like an SNL skit.

My Mind Wanders - that is a good point, what is up with that timing??

Citizen - they are not good for me, I'm getting out for sure!
