Monday Prayer

As it is raining here today and I'm in a introspective mood, here is a prayer a very good friend of mine sent me that I just love - it seems to perfectly fit my current stage in life - sort of in a transition (this job ends soon, I start school at the end of August).

My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going.
I do not see the road ahead of me.
I cannot know for certain where it will end.
Nor do I really know myself,
And the fact that I think I am following your will
Does not mean that I am actually doing so.
But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you.
And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing,
I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire.
And I know that if I do this,
You will lead me by the right road
Though I may know nothing about it.
Therefore I will trust you always,
Though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death.
I will not fear, for you are ever with me,
And you will never leave me to face my perils alone.

I like the humility of the prayer. The person praying does not presume to speak for God. Beautiful.

Joe - no biggie, it's Virginia Commonwealth University - VCU for short.

Molly - I liked it, could be used for any religion, no?

Merci - I think that humility is what drew me to the prayer, because I don't know what He wants but I pray I'm following as He desires.

Our faiths really do have quite a bit in common.

Brenda - thanks!

Merci - yes, when we wipe away the political stuff and religious people's personal agenda's, I think most religions have the same tenets at their core.

Laurie - thanks, I hope so (that I'll be fine) at times I'm excited and at other times nervous as hell.

Yes this prayer is universal and thats what I loved about it.
